Today, Zeha-Berlin's legacy is carried by both Alexander Barré and Torsten Heine, former East Germans, who resuscitated the brand when it ceased production in 1993 after the fall of the Berlin wall. Zeha-Berlin was originally founded in 1897 in the Weida, Thuringia, but largely the brand's designs are heavily inspired by the days during the German Democratic Republic. Though influenced during ominous times, Zeha-Berlin shows no traces of the communist austerity. The two sought to combine "sporty heritage with the urban present" resulting in the "Carl Häßner Meisterschuhe," a shoe infused tradition and modernity. The finest Italian leather, hand-finished leather soles, and a beautiful palette of colours, in combination with a high level of comfort thanks to modern styling, complete the shoes' unique charm.
